Fall Issue Release with Kaveh Akbar


Join us on October 16 at the Foundry for our Fall Issue Release featuring poet Kaveh Akbar. Akbar will read at 7 pm accompanied by sign language interpreter Lynn Young. 

Kaveh Akbar’s poems have appeared or are forthcoming in The Georgia Review, the New Yorker, Poetry, Tin House, Guernica, Boston Review, and elsewhere. A recipient of a 2016 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation, a Pushcart Prize, and the Lucille Medwick Memorial Award from the Poetry Society of America, he is the author of the chapbook Portrait of the Alcoholic (Sibling Rivalry Press, 2017) and the full-length collection Calling a Wolf a Wolf (Alice James Books, September 2017). Born in Tehran, Iran, Akbar is an assistant professor at Purdue University and the founding editor of Divedapper, where he interviews major voices in contemporary poetry.
